Aftercare & Recovery

Following your Dermapen® microneedling treatment, the skin goes through an active healing phase as the micro-channels close. Proper aftercare is essential for achieving the best results and preventing irritation.
 

First 24 Hours (Most Important)

For the first 24 hours, do not apply anything to the skin except the products we provide:

✔ Post-procedure ointment
✔ Pure hyaluronic acid serum (provided by us)

This includes no moisturizers, no makeup, no SPF, no oils, no exfoliants, no actives, and no skincare of your own.
The micro-channels remain open during this period, and applying outside products can cause sensitivity, reactions, or inflammation.

Sun Protection Within the First 24 Hours

Because no creams or lotions are allowed, the only acceptable sun protection within the first 24 hours is:

✔ Mineral powder SPF (with no fillers, talc, dyes, or fragrances)

If you do not already have a safe mineral powder sunscreen, we can recommend one during your appointment.

After 24 Hours

Once the micro-channels have closed (after the first 24 hours), you may introduce:

• Gentle, non-active cleanser

• Hydrating, non-fragranced moisturizer

• Mineral-based SPF (cream or powder)

Avoid for 3–5 days:

✘ Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin)
✘ AHA/BHA acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic)
✘ Vitamin C (ascorbic acid forms)
✘ Exfoliating scrubs
✘ Acne treatments (benzoyl peroxide, adapalene)

Your skin may feel warm, tight, or lightly flushed for 24–48 hours—similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and part of the healing process.

For the first 48 hours:

• Avoid saunas or steam rooms

• Avoid hot yoga or heavy sweating

• Avoid swimming or hot tubs

• Avoid direct sun exposure

These activities can introduce bacteria, cause irritation, or delay healing.
